Out and About at Literary Love & Once Upon A Book

Attending conference is always a lot of fun. It’s wonderful meeting my readers and gaining new ones. At Literary Love: Savannah, Savannah Verte (in the big red hat) and I co-sponsored a lunch table. The readers were given cute fascinator hats Savannah picked up in New Orleans. Two of our readers bugged out before the photo was taken. Naturally, I wore my purple fascinator!

At Literary Love: Savannah, I was also on 3 panels (PNR, YA, and scifi/fantasy/UF). I enjoyed listening to panel discussions when I attended conferences as a reader and was thrilled to participate in these 3 panels. This was the PNR panel which included Laura Hawks and Milly Taiden.

Conference are also an opportunity to network with fellow authors and do some business. An industrious reader caught me and Jennifer Wentworth having a quick meeting related to the new scifi series I will be releasing in October/November/December. I posted this picture on Facebook and someone asked if I had fallen. It was actually more comfortable talking and taking notes sitting on the floor than sitting on the chair.

At Once Upon a Book in Frankenmuth, Michigan it was a lot of fun dressing up as a Greek Goddess. That’s my roommate at the convention Laura Hawks with me. Yes, I know I’m not in purple or have my fascinator on. It felt strange!

Download The Soul Mate for FREE

In 2014 I wrote the first book in the Worlds Apart series. Alexandra and Tarsea had the benefit of his parents being soul mates. I always wondered how his parents got through their first days as soul mates without any guidance. After asking that question a number of times, I had to  write a prequel novella to provide an answer.

As a member of my newsletter group, I’d like to offer the book to you FREE of charge. Grab it using the link below on AUGUST 24TH AND 25TH!

I hope you enjoy the novella and Leenea and Zane’s story.

The book is exclusively on Amazon and KindleUnlimited, as is the rest of the Worlds Apart series.

The Blurb:

His first touch electrified her!

Leenea Rickard never made a decision without fear her mind-control telepathic father would apply his influence. Even the man she ultimately married would not be her choice. Her fate had not mattered until her eyes connected with a stranger at an anti-government rally.

Zane Childers realized what Leenea was to him the moment he touched her. They must hide the true nature of their relationship or become targets of a corrupt government. Their future is jeopardized when a boy’s life is threatened and they decide to save the child.

Enjoy this prequel to the Worlds Apart series where Zane and Leenea must discover what being soul mates involves.

Update on Closure of Amazon’s Kindle Worlds

Have you heard?! Amazon is closing its Kindle Worlds in mid-July!

Fortunately many of the authors from S.E. Smith’s Kindle World are joining together to keep the Magic, New Mexico world alive and books will be available wide and international from July 24th. I am so excited to be able to offer my three Magic New Mexico books to my international and non-Amazon readers. More news to come.

If you have purchased or have my books already on your Kindle, please make sure you download them to your computer before mid-July in case they disappear when Amazon remove them from KU.

SWFL SpaceCon

Last year I attended SWFL SpaceCon and participated in a panel entitled ‘Romance in Science Fiction’.

This year I was happy to attend again and participated in two panels ‘World Building’ and ‘The World of Publishing’.

Like last year, it was fun to talk with attendees and check out the costumes many of the attendees wore.

I also had a fan girl moment with Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Marina Sirtis (Counselor Troy).

Shantel attended both years as well and purchased ‘Selected’ last year and picked up the other 2 books at this year’s conference. She was amazed I recognized her from last year. Her makeup job was incredible.

My Summer Author Conferences

This summer I traveled to Cocoa Beach to be part of the Space Coast Book Lovers conference. I had only participated in the book signing last year and was attending the whole conference this year.

One of the great things about traveling to conferences are checking out the local attractions.

Before we headed to NASA Kennedy Space Center, ML Guida, Susan Hayes, and reader Suzanne and I had breakfast. Our waitress was nice enough to take our photo before we headed out.

The Kennedy Space Center was incredible. I got to pilot the space shuttle Atlantis (sort of).

The whole conference was a lot of fun, including the book signing. Elizabeth won the lavender gift set and I got to meet a number of new readers. Tiffany told me she’s obsessed with the worlds I built in my novels. That warmed my heart!

RT Book Lover’s Convention

I had the pleasure of attending the RT Book Lover’s Convention as a reader in Kansas City (2013) and New Orleans (2014) and as an author in Dallas (2015) and Atlanta (2017). The convention is HUGE and I was able to meet so many of the authors I have read over the years, as well as connect with readers.

Although I did not attend this year’s convention in Reno, the announcement that Katherine Falk would be retiring and RT would no longer be publishing their e-magazine made it across social media like a wildfire.

What did not spread as quickly is news the ladies that ran the convention for RT are still continuing the Book Lover’s Conventions. 2019 will be back in New Orleans May 15th-19th. I believe reading it will be at the Hyatt Regency. One of my favorite authors, Christine Feehan (her ‘Dark Gold’ was the first PNR book I read and was hooked) is one of the authors they are advertising will be there.

Here is the link to sign-up for their newsletter. I have no information about when registration for next year will open. One of my local RWA (Romance Writers of America) friends and I have already decided to road trip to New Orleans and join in on the fun.

Here I am at the Atlanta RT with 2 reader friends and author Jeannie Hardt.

What Is Going On With Kindle Worlds?

A Touch Of Harmony by Evelyn Lederman KW

On May 16th, Amazon announced the closing of Kindle Worlds. They immediately pulled Kindle World novellas/books from Kindle Unlimited (KU) and will pull the Kindle versions on or around July 16th.

So what does that mean to you as a reader? Well, if you are a KU reader, you will no longer be able to borrow these books with your monthly membership. For those of you who buy the Kindle version you have until July 16th to purchase the books under the current Kindle World licensing.

What about after July 16th? Kindle World authors/owner are trying to figure that out. As a Kindle World author I have the ability to follow the author/owner in what they have planned OR rewrite and republish the books, pulling out aspects of the author/owner world. Amazon has assigned us back our publishing rights.

It is premature for me to communicate what I plan to do, since the author/owners are still working on their plans. As soon as I know those plans, I will let you all know. However, the closing of Kindle Worlds does give the author/owner and authors the ability to go international and provide a broader distribution of the works.

I have personally met with S.E. Smith and am in contact with Eliza Gayle as well. They were given a days notice before Amazon contacted all the writer contributors of Kindle World. So this is all very new information.
