Changes to My Book Signing Schedule

With the coronavirus, two of my three conferences this year were reschedule to next year. Literary Love is still planning to have our conference this year with modifications…masks, open spaces, etc. It will be a learning experience.

Here is my schedule:

2020

Literary Love in Savannah, Georgia Thursday July 30th through Sunday August 2nd, 2020 @ Savannah Marriott

2021

Book Lover’s Con: Orlando, Florida April 15th – April 18th, 2021 @ Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate

Weekend with The Authors: Nashville, Tennessee June 17th-June 20th, 2021 @ Nashville Airport Marriott

Space Coast Book Lovers: Cape Canaveral, Florida June 24th- June 27th, 2021@ Cape Canaveral Raddison

Book Lover’s Con (replaced the RT Convention) is a large con, while Weekend with the Authors and Space Coast Book Lovers are smaller, more intimate conferences. I’d love to see you at any of the conferences!

OUT & ABOUT and the COVID-19 Virus

When I worked for Farmers Insurance, I put together corporate Year 2000 business continuity plans, as well as strategies to deal with a world-wide pandemic when Bird Flu was in the news.

Never in a million years did I think the corporation I retired from after 33 years of service would have to enact the plan. As news trickled out of China about a new corona virus, it became clear we didn’t only have a world economy, but exposure to a virus that could become a pandemic. Throughout history, such pandemics occurred and ended. We will get through this one, like all the others. But be smart. Please follow the guidelines provided by the CDC related to social distancing, washing your hands regularly, etc.

Because of the COVID-19 Virus, The Weekend with the Authors originally scheduled for April 16th through 19th has been cancelled. Sandy Sullivan is working on plans for a conference in 2021 in Nashville again.

Space Coast Book Lovers scheduled for June 25th through June 27th is still going through activities planning for the event. They’ve communicated the 2021 dates so people can reserve those dates in case we are still under social distancing protocols. Again, we hope the world is back to normal by the end of June. Space Coast Book Lovers 2021 will be June 24th through 27th, 2021.

As with Space Coast Book Lovers, plans continue to be developed for Literary Love, Savannah: Thursday July 30th through Sunday August 2nd. This year will be my last appearance at that particular conference since I’m cutting down conference attendance in 2021.

COASTAL MAGIC 2020

I attended Coastal Magic 2020 because two of my favorite authors were featured: Shannon K. Butcher and Jeaniene Frost.

Here I am messing around with Shannon Butcher. I met Shannon at my first romance novel convention, Romcon2010. When I won a door prize, I chose the prize with the first book in her Sentinel War series ‘Burning Alive’. I’ve been a MEGA FAN ever since. Shannon is now writing under the name Anna Argent. If you love Paranormal Romance, you have to check out the Sentinel War series under the name Shannon Butcher and The Lost Shards series under the name Anna Argent. Yes, it’s a terrible picture of me, but the other photos were terrible where Shannon was concerned.

At Romcon2010, I also met Maggie Mae Gallagher. I signed up to have lunch at her table and it felt great catching up with each other. The last time I saw Maggie Mae was at the Barbara Vey event in April of last year.

Last, but not least, I was able to catch up with my good friend S.E. Smith who also attended the conference. We were able to catch lunch together with 2 other authors. Susan is sitting beside me. If all goes well, we’ll be hanging out at this year’s Space Coast Book Lover’s Convention.

2020
In 2020 I’ll be returning to Weekend with the Authors and Literary Love, Savannah.

September 2018 Out and About

One of my favorite things about attending conference is meeting new friends/readers. Many I communicated with via Facebook, but it’s special meeting them face-to-face.

I met Mary at the 2013 Romcon in Colorado Springs. She came to surprise me and another Author in Phoenix in 2015. Well, my day was made when Mary was attending a wedding in Kansas City and came to the Marriott specifically to see me. She’s a dear friend and I didn’t want to let her go.

On of the advantages of being short is being front and enter when a group photo is taken. This was the first ‘Show Me Your Books’ and we had an incredible collection of authors. I was proud to be part of the group.

Out and About at Literary Love & Once Upon A Book

Attending conference is always a lot of fun. It’s wonderful meeting my readers and gaining new ones. At Literary Love: Savannah, Savannah Verte (in the big red hat) and I co-sponsored a lunch table. The readers were given cute fascinator hats Savannah picked up in New Orleans. Two of our readers bugged out before the photo was taken. Naturally, I wore my purple fascinator!

At Literary Love: Savannah, I was also on 3 panels (PNR, YA, and scifi/fantasy/UF). I enjoyed listening to panel discussions when I attended conferences as a reader and was thrilled to participate in these 3 panels. This was the PNR panel which included Laura Hawks and Milly Taiden.

Conference are also an opportunity to network with fellow authors and do some business. An industrious reader caught me and Jennifer Wentworth having a quick meeting related to the new scifi series I will be releasing in October/November/December. I posted this picture on Facebook and someone asked if I had fallen. It was actually more comfortable talking and taking notes sitting on the floor than sitting on the chair.

At Once Upon a Book in Frankenmuth, Michigan it was a lot of fun dressing up as a Greek Goddess. That’s my roommate at the convention Laura Hawks with me. Yes, I know I’m not in purple or have my fascinator on. It felt strange!

SWFL SpaceCon

Last year I attended SWFL SpaceCon and participated in a panel entitled ‘Romance in Science Fiction’.

This year I was happy to attend again and participated in two panels ‘World Building’ and ‘The World of Publishing’.

Like last year, it was fun to talk with attendees and check out the costumes many of the attendees wore.

I also had a fan girl moment with Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Marina Sirtis (Counselor Troy).

Shantel attended both years as well and purchased ‘Selected’ last year and picked up the other 2 books at this year’s conference. She was amazed I recognized her from last year. Her makeup job was incredible.

My Summer Author Conferences

This summer I traveled to Cocoa Beach to be part of the Space Coast Book Lovers conference. I had only participated in the book signing last year and was attending the whole conference this year.

One of the great things about traveling to conferences are checking out the local attractions.

Before we headed to NASA Kennedy Space Center, ML Guida, Susan Hayes, and reader Suzanne and I had breakfast. Our waitress was nice enough to take our photo before we headed out.

The Kennedy Space Center was incredible. I got to pilot the space shuttle Atlantis (sort of).

The whole conference was a lot of fun, including the book signing. Elizabeth won the lavender gift set and I got to meet a number of new readers. Tiffany told me she’s obsessed with the worlds I built in my novels. That warmed my heart!

2018 Conferences

My first conference of 2018 will be A Weekend with the Authors in Nashville, Tennessee. Not only am I going to be there, but so is my good friend S.E. Smith, who sheltered yours truly during Hurricane Irma. It’s my first time attending this conference put on by author, Sandy Sullivan.

OK, I may have mentioned this before, but there are several authors I go CRAZY FAN GIRL over! The magnificent Lora Leigh will be there. Her breed series is INCREDIBLE, although she is primarily known as an erotic romance writer.

I hope to see you March 16-18 in Nashville!

I Attended the Once Upon A Book Convention

Here I am with Laura Hawks at the Once Upon A Book Ball. I was the Mad Hatter w/my signature purple hat and the purple cape my sister, Laura got me.

Here I am with author Candy Ann Little. She is always a joy to be around. We met at UtopYA last year and she told me about the fun convention in Frankenmuth, MI. Yes, I will be back next year.

Here I am with Super Reader Tina. It was so much fun visiting with her again. She left with over 100 books, including The Nightshade Saga series.

The ball was visited by Dino and his twins. It was hysterical to see the dinosaurs dancing. Once Upon A Book Convention was a family friendly event.
